A Short History of the Sierra Repertory Theatre
This theatre’s beginnings were in the dreams of five students in the University of the Pacific’s drama program. They envisioned a performing arts center that would be in a rural setting yet still attract professional artists and audiences through the quality of the art created there. The Sierra Repertory Theatre (aka Sierra Rep) was first housed in a tin warehouse in East Sonora until it was selected as the resident theatre company for the Fallon House Theatre.
Today, the Sierra Repertory Theatre holds the distinction of being among the ranks of the few rural, nonprofit theatres in the nation to receive top ratings and awards from national, state, and regional foundations. It produces nine main-stage shows per year which take place at either the original East Sonora Theatre or the Fallon House Theatre.
