Angels Camp is a historic small town that’s located just 10 minutes away from Murphys. When you visit here, you’ll feel like you’re taking a trip back in time. There’s plenty to see and do here, such as checking out the Angels Camp City Museum, where you can learn about the California Gold Rush town and look at fascinating carriage and wagon exhibits. As you stroll the streets of historic Main Street in Angels Camp, you’ll find charming boutiques and delicious restaurants.
Located in Arnold, 20 minutes away from Murphys, you’ll find Big Trees State Park. This breathtaking park in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is home to out–of–this–world Giant Sequoias that you have to see to believe. There’s plenty of ways to enjoy the day at Big Trees State Park, such as hiking, guided walking tours, visiting the museum, and enjoying a packed lunch at the picnic tables.
The town of Arnold is also home to a collection of impressive golf courses. If you’re a fan of the game, be sure to visit one of our favorite two golf courses—Greenhorn Creek Golf Course and Sequoia Woods Country Club. Both courses feature stunning views of Gold Country you won’t find anywhere else.
Did you know that Murphys is only an hour and a half away from Yosemite National Park? This park and its surrounding areas are home to otherworldly caves that are dying to be explored. Lilburn Cave is the longest cave system in Yosemite National Park and the state of California and Crystal Cave is the park’s only commercialized cave. As you explore these caves, you’ll find all sorts of natural minerals and rock formations that you must see to believe!
