Here are the standout activities that you can enjoy when you visit Moaning Caverns Adventure Park.
The Spiral Tour
During the Spiral Tour, you’ll descend sixteen stories underground via a remarkable spiral staircase. You’ll see tremendous rock formations and learn about the history and geology of these colossal formations. Plus, you’ll see the moaning holes— which are rock formations caused by dripping water and create a moaning sound, which inspired the cave’s infamous name.
The Expedition Tour
This tour is for the true adventurer at heart! During the Expedition Tour, you’ll only have a headlamp to light your way through the caves. During this challenging 3-hour caving adventure trip, you’ll descend deep below ground and climb, crawl, squeeze, and slide through natural passages. This is an experience that you won’t soon forget.
Zip Lines
Embrace your inner daredevil and experience this fast-paced, high-intensity adventure of zip lining. You’ll soar through the air and take in views of the beautiful Gold Country foothills. The zip lines are a quarter of a mile long and reach speeds up to 35 miles an hour! Also, there are two zip lines that run alongside one another so you and a brave friend can race each other.
Climbing Wall
Have you ever tried rock climbing? Whether it’s your first time trying it or you’re a seasoned pro, everyone can try their hand at the climbing wall at Moaning Caverns. This climbing tower is 32 feet high and includes both beginner and challenging climbing routes. You’ll get geared up in a charger and maneuver your way around the life-like rock features and overhangs and try to reach the top.
Helpful Tip: The zip lines and climbing wall are closed during certain seasons. Be sure to call ahead and check their availability before you head out to the caverns.
Gemstone Mining
At the gemstone mining station, your kiddos can pan for gold just like the miners did during the California Gold Rush during the 1800s. Everyone is guaranteed to find some hidden treasures, so no one goes home empty-handed!
