Special visits to their beautiful California-certified sustainable vineyard off Parrot’s Ferry Rd, overlooking New Melones Reservoir, can be booked on their website. Aloria’s tasting room showcases their award-winning wines with a focus on their signature Petite Sirah. You may also taste their wines at Above the Rush on Hwy 4, halfway between Angels Camp and Murphys.
Brice Station
Some of the most savory blends in all of Calaveras County are found at Brice Station Vineyards. Situated 14 minutes from Courtwood Inn east on Hwy 4, this stop is ideal to visit between May and September when incredible glasses of wine can be paired with their summer concert series. They also host the annual ‘Shakespeare on the Vine’ event in August.
Prospect 772
Just 13 miles from Courtwood Inn, between Angels Camp and Copperopolis, Prospect 772 is well worth the drive. On a small 25 acre parcel tucked in a narrow valley, a team of talented and experienced industry professionals bring you the most captivating blends of Rhone Varietals. There is bocce on site, and on Friday evenings in August, local musicians perform.
Locke
On Highway 4 about a mile from Main Street, you will see the Locke vineyard, beautiful barn and a field of lavender. This family owned and operated vineyard is the place to experience fine wine, beautiful gardens, a specialty shop, and their unique Farmhouse Workshops. Wine tasting is available inside; wine flights are available out on the patio.
Indian Rock
Just 10 minutes from Courtwood Inn, you’ll find Indian Rock Vineyards. This 40-acre vineyard produces 18 varieties and upward of two dozen flavors. If Pinot Noir is your beverage of choice, this is the place to be. In addition to savory selections, the vineyard also has a large lawn for picnics, corn-hole, and a pond brimming with rainbow trout on-site.
Stevenot
The Stevenot winery established in the late 1970’s by Barden Stevenot, a 5th generation Calaveras family, who is known as one of the pioneers of the rebirth of wine production in the Sierra Foothills. The Oliveto family became the proud owners of Stevenot Winery in 2010, and are now located just off Hwy 4. From their historic tasting room to their historic estate grown wines, you’re in for a real treat. And on Sundays, they frequently have local musicians playing on their shaded patio.
Hatcher and School Street
On weekends, you can taste wines from both Hatcher and School Street labels at the winery on Hwy 4. There is a covered patio where you can bring a picnic lunch and enjoy some great wine. Tasting inside the tasting room or barrel room is available 7 days a week. Matt Hatcher is one of the areas elite winemakers and there is a variety of wines you are sure to enjoy.
Twisted Oak
Known for their Spanish varietals and adored for their Tempranillo, Viognier, and Grenacha, the tasting experience is fun and tasty. You are sure to see the yellow chickens that identify as the Twisted Oak winery’s mascot. Open 7 days a week, check out the wonderful hilltop view off Hwy 4 and their varied tasting list.
